Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez is teaming up with Safe Horizon to help support Ukrainian immigrants as they begin to apply for temporary protective status in the United States.
Organizers at Safe Horizon have paired each Ukrainian immigrant with a law student, a legal volunteer and a translator to review eligibility requirements, and familiarize themselves with all the documents they'll have to fill out.
The volunteers are providing Ukrainian immigrants with free services and legal advice.
Organizers say they will be opening another clinic once the TPS application window opens to help people file.
