Food Network television star Sandra Lee has announced she's been diagnosed with breast cancer.
The 48-year-old is the live-in partner of Gov. Andrew Cuomo. She made the announcement during a tearful interview that aired this morning on ABC's "Good Morning America."
Lee says that she found out about the cancer last month and plans to undergo a double mastectomy this week.
Cuomo released a statement supporting Lee's decision to speak publicly.
"While she has kept her illness private until now, Sandy has bravely decided to speak openly about her illness in order to remind women of the potentially lifesaving power of early detection," said Cuomo.
Cuomo plans to take some personal time to support Lee as she recovers.
