Prom dresses provided by Macy's were given out on a first-come, first-serve basis at the East Fordham Optimum store Saturday.
They normally retail for hundreds of dollars each, but they were all free. It was all due to a partnership between Optimum, Discovery Inc., and TLC.
The event in the style of the reality television show "Say Yes to the Dress" had high school students saying "Yes to the Prom" all day long.
"It's a step toward all of the healing that I think a lot of people need to see, especially in this day and age where so much has been lost. Having something for free, it helps in the healing," said mother Ivette Gonzales.
Each student took one free dress home by just showing their student ID.
The event ran until all dresses were gone.
