Delays in the global supply chain are now impacting the heating and plumbing industries.
Chris Petri, operations manager at Petri Plumbing and Heating, says they're seeing shortages on heating and plumbing materials - with winter right around the corner.
"It's probably the first time in the five years that I've been here that it's been very difficult to actually get material. We've never had to delay jobs or projects because of material shortages except for the past six months or so,” said Petri.
"When you're trying to tell the family or building they're not going to have hot water for multiple days, if not weeks, it's very difficult to have their message come out in a way that's anything but negative,” said Petri.
Despite delays in the global supply chain, Petri has done its best to prepare for the busy season, but even that doesn’t always cut it.
"Our experts in the field will come back, and I'll be ready to do a project, ready to get a job done, ready to make clients smile, but they can't because he can't get the material in hand,” said Petri.
Petri says that by reaching out to distributors far in advance and increasing inventory upfront, they are ready to do what it takes to keep the community warm.
He is telling community members to try and get what they need to be done sooner rather than later. He says that in his expert opinion, delays are only going to continue.
