Surveillance video shows a man accused of pointing a red laser into the eyes of an MTA driver maneuvering a bus down a busy street.
The video appears to show the man laughing and smiling while aiming the laser into a mirror and then the eyes of the driver, Kenneth Johnson.
Johnson sustained an injury to his left eye as he safely stopped the bus. His union says it was his experience -- 24 years on the job -- that helped keep passengers out of danger.
The 60-foot bus is equipped with 13 cameras, and police say those cameras gave them a clear picture of the suspect.
"I'm very happy my bus had video cameras," Johnson said. "I think all MTA buses should have cameras as well."
There's no timetable yet for when Johnson will return to work.
