A nonprofit and service members came together to transform the NYCHA Brownsville Senior Center into a colorful mural-filled masterpiece in celebration of Fleet Week.
Men and women from the U.S. Coast Guard, Marines and Navy and Habitat for Humanity are just painting and priming the center's walls for now. But Habitat for Humanity's Ashley Lehrer came up with designs that she says will inject the bare walls with color and vibrancy.
The senior center is open to anyone in the area, free of charge. Meals are served every day.
Those involved say the revitalization will bring a greater sense of community to the center.
