Video shows a gunman continue to fire at a man who stumbled into two kids during a shooting in front of a Mount Eden bodega on Thursday.
Neighbors say the brother and sister were walking out of the Sheridan Avenue business.
The incident was caught on surveillance video just after 6:45 p.m. It appears to show the 24-year-old dressed in red being shot at. He then runs into two children as the shooter dressed in black continues to fire. At this point, the 24-year-old victim is shot while the sister grabs on to her brother to protect him. Then the suspect runs away from the scene, and a customer from the bodega comes out to help.
Police say the suspect fled from the scene on a scooter.
Neighbors say the kids were sent to the bodega by themselves to buy items for their family. Both the brother and sister are OK.
Detectives say the 24-year-old victim walked to Bronx Lebanon Hospital, which is just down the block.
A relative of the 24-year-old man tells News 12 that he is currently in stable condition. The relative says the man did not mean to run toward the children and was trying to avoid getting shot in the head.
The entire shooting stemmed from an argument, according to police.
Officers were on the street handing out flyers to remind neighbors that there is up to a $2,000 reward for any information that can lead to an arrest.
