A sidewalk that was originally extended to help keep commuters out of the road has now become a hazard for some drivers.
The city extended the sidewalk at 1766 Westchester Ave. just under the 6 train entrance about a month ago to help commuters waiting at the MTA bus stop.
But drivers who are unfamiliar with the area or those who aren't yet used to the new extension have reportedly been driving over the sidewalk.
The Department of Transportation has put up orange barriers with reflectors to show drivers where the curb ends and where the road begins.
The DOT says the purpose of the sidewalk extensions is to improve safety.
