A local singer-songwriter and record producer who has worked with big names in music is now focusing on vocal coaching throughout the pandemic.
Singer-songwriter Gordon Chambers’ career spans over the past 25 years, and he has worked with legends such as Aretha Franklin and Whitney Houston.
“Some of my first songs sort of hit the radio airwaves in the early 90s, and they've included songs like Brownstone's ‘If You Love Me,’ Anita Baker’s Grammy winning ‘I Apologize,’” says Chambers.
Over the past few months he's shared his experience through virtual vocal coaching.
“When the pandemic hit, I started getting more and more requests because people are at home, people are using the down time to work on their craft and express themselves,” says Chambers.
Chambers began coaching children in an online class through Outschool and doing private lessons.
He even began helping one person who had suffered from coronavirus.
"You know he said, ‘I was really struggling with my breath.’ COVID is the breath that had been really deeply affected so we had amazingly uplifting, very transparent conversations that was very emotional because looking at him I would have never known,” says Chambers.
Chambers says he wants to continue coaching more people. He says what we're living through today is inspiring him and other artists to create transformational work using music to get through difficult days.
