Snow intensified over City Island in the Bronx Thursday morning as a nor'easter lingered over the region.
The nor'easter began dropping snow in the Bronx around 5:30 a.m., according to News 12 meteorologists.
Local officials advised residents to stay off of the roads so that workers could treat them with salt and sand.
DOT officials say sent plow truck drivers out across the city once 2 inches of snow hit the ground.
All New York City public schools are closed today, according to officials.
Those traveling outside are advised to wear multiple layers as temperatures are expected to tumble.
The storm is expected to bring between 5 to 8 inches of snow and high winds to the Bronx before tapering off around 4 p.m.
