News 12’s “Failing Foundations’ investigation series has important new information involving a local dam that fell victim to an international cyberattack.
The Bowman Avenue Dam in Rye Brook was infiltrated by hackers back in 2013.
Despite the highly publicized digital breach at the computer-controlled dam, a Team 12 investigation found little has changed to safeguard this critical infrastructure.
State data shows the dam flunked its last safety inspection, and it is also missing the proper emergency planning paperwork.
An electrician who worked on the dam after the hacking incident, is now breaking his silence claiming innocent lives could be at risk. "It's dangerous and something's going to happen. It's just a matter of time," says Greg MacKenzie, an electrician.
Our senior investigative reporter Tara Rosenblum goes digging for answers to find who's responsible for the safety lapses at the dam.
Don't miss this must-watch investigation which is part of our look at the region's ‘Failing Foundations' tonight on News 12 at 10 p.m.
