A nonprofit organization in Soundview is giving away coats to hundreds of people in need on Saturday.
It marks the Soundview Family Resource Center's second annual coat giveaway. It's part of a partnership with Assemblyman Marcos Crespos, Chase Bank and Burlington Coat Factory.
The center provides services ranging from mental health to parent and child workshops and services anyone in need.
Priscilla Oquendo says she hopes the program helps others the way it has helped her.
"Like it has done for me, is enriched my children's life and I hope that I will do the same for other families as well," Oquendo says. "Because not only is it about parents, but it's also about our kids. So if we became better parents, it'll be better for our kids as well as our community."
The nonprofit says it has received between 400 and 450 coats.
