Multiple Soundview residents tell News 12 that the heavy rain from Wednesday night caused their apartments to flood and their ceilings to collapse.
For Raquel Bennett, a tenant at 1145 Morrison Ave., her flooded floor and furniture came first – then, the collapsed ceiling.
“My kids don’t have a bed, I don’t have a couch, my rugs, my clothes, my kids’ clothes,” said Bennett. “My house is unlivable now.”
Bennett called the FDNY who said that they would come to take down any loose pieces from the ceiling but couldn’t do much else. She tells News 12 that the apartments below and above her are also severely damaged.
