An interactive art exhibit at Boriqua College on Washington Avenue seeks to shake some of the negative stigma associated with the South Bronx.
"Narrating Our Neighborhood: The Melrose Oral History Project" is open and free to the public.
"Oftentimes you hear stories of the South Bronx," says Elissa Carmona, a singer and one of 18 residents whose photographs are on display. "It's burning, and the blight -- but really it's about the culture and pride. And the stories here represent that."
The exhibition is part of a collaboration between the Women's Housing and Economic Development Corporation and New York University.
The show ends Friday at 2 p.m.
