On the second eve of Hannukah, the community celebrated the festival of lights by lighting the menorah at Stew Leonard's.

The annual celebration came just days after a mass shooting at a Hannukah celebration in Sydney, Australia that left 15 dead.

Extra security was on hand as people danced, sang and helped themselves to kosher refreshments like hot potato latkes and chocolate gelt.

"It's really nice to feel well-protected here," Amy Pressman, of Fairfield, says. "There's a lot of antisemitism in the world right now."

An 18-foot menorah was lit and the Norwalk Fire Department even did a dreidel drop from the top a ladder truck.

Rabbi Hecht of Beth Israel Chabad says although Hanukkah candles are small, they have a very powerful message.

"Each and every one of us can bring light to the world," Rabbi Hecht says. "Spread the light."
