A Bronx man accused in the deadly stabbing of a teenager waived his right to appear before a judge on Friday.
Hector Sanchez, 21, is accused of stabbing 17-year-old Esmerlyn Toribio more than a dozen times Sunday night on East 182nd Street. Authorities say the attack stemmed from an argument about a motorbike sale.
Sanchez is facing charges of manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon. He pleaded not guilty to the charges earlier this week, although prosecutors say he has made several statements admitting to the stabbing.
Friends and family members say Toribio had wanted to become a detective. The recent high school graduate was set to attend Berkeley College in the fall.
Sanchez is due back in court Sept. 1.
