A winter weather advisory is in effect overnight, with a few inches of snow expected on Long Island and a slippery Wednesday morning commute.
Snow arrives tonight, with 2 to 3 inches on average expected by Wednesday morning. Snow will end by 8 a.m. but the commute will be slippery, with temperatures near freezing through daybreak.
Wednesday afternoon will be dry before the next storm arrives at night. A burst of snow and a wintry mix gets here Wednesday night before changing to rain Thursday morning.
Temperatures will be rising above freezing but there could still be some slick spots early in the morning.
Friday will be Sam's Pick of the Week, with sunshine and a break from the stormy weather.
The next storm arrives by Saturday afternoon bringing a wintry mix changing to rain showers, and the rain could continue through much of the day on Sunday. High temperatures for the weekend will be in the 40s.

WEDNESDAY: Snow ends by 8 a.m., with close to 3 inches expected. Mostly cloudy with highs near 38 degrees. Northeast to east winds 5 to 15 mph. Cloudy at night, with a brief wintry mix changing to rain. Lows near 33 degrees with east winds 10 to 15 mph. Sunset: 5:24 p.m.
THURSDAY: Rain likely in the morning, ending in the afternoon. Mostly cloudy, with highs near 45 degrees. Lows near 25 degrees.
FRIDAY: Valentine's Day. Mostly sunny, breezy and cold. Highs near 35 degrees. Lows near 24 degrees.
