If you are not a fan of colder weather, you are certainly not going to like how cold it gets just in time for Veterans Day! I have more on that below for you. You also probably won't love tomorrow morning's temperatures either.
The cold start tomorrow morning will thankfully be short-lived and highs in the afternoon will hit the low 60s for much of Long Island. You will notice the wind pick up again in the afternoon on Friday, but it will be a decent fall day.
Before we get to that brief winter preview next week, there are a couple of rain chances this weekend. There will be a quick round of scattered light to moderate rain showers after 11 p.m. Friday and through around 8 a.m. Saturday morning.
Saturday afternoon is going to be fantastic though - for the few hours of daylight we will have left in the afternoon at least! It is easily the best part of the weekend with warmer temperatures in the 60s under sunshine.
WETTER FOR SUNDAY
Outdoor plans for Sunday are not looking great. There can be some drizzle developing in the morning with a round of steadier light to moderate rain possible for the afternoon and evening.
VETERANS DAY WINTER PREVIEW
The coldest day of the season yet will arrive next Tuesday on Veterans Day. You will absolutely need to bundle up all day. It will feel like the 20s in the morning and like the upper 30s at best in the afternoon. Thankfully, it looks like a dry day at least!
The rest of next week looks OK with high temperatures mostly back in the 50s and it looks like a fairly dry week.
DROUGHT UPDATE
Much of Long Island is no longer in a drought. The only exception is parts of the east end which remain in a moderate drought for now, but this is a great improvement!
Have a great night!
