Showers and storms amp up during the overnight and throughout Thursday. It will be a messy, sloppy, storm day for Thursday. Overnight rain will continue during the morning commute, and on-and off in bursts throughout the afternoon and ramp up into the evening.
Thursday brings a chance for isolated severe weather, but it will all come down to how much cloud cover we have or don't have. Less clouds could lead to more opportunity for fuel for storms and severe weather. Main concerns are lightning, damaging gusts, downpours leading to isolated flash flooding and the chance for storms to have some rotation as well.
There is a very small tornado threat, but small doesn't mean none. Stay weather aware for your entire Thursday, as conditions could quickly deteriorate and change.
The overnight will be soggy, foggy, and wet. Rain starts by early Thursday and continues throughout the day. While exact rain amounts will depend on where the heaviest bands set up, we could see between a half inch and inch and a half of rain between the overnight and through early Friday a.m. These thunderstorms, once they develop, have the potential to repeatedly hit the same neighborhood, leading to some areas seeing flash flooding while other neighborhoods might not.
Low rain chances persist into the weekend, but it doesn't look to be a wet weekend overall. Currently, the timing looks like rain could move in late Saturday and linger into early Sunday. Portions of the weekend will be fine for outdoor activities.
It will be warmer than usual for the end of September, with highs in the higher 70s and even lower 80s in portions of our borough.
OVERNIGHT: Muggy and moist. Showers and thunderstorms. Patchy fog lows in the higher 60s.
THURSDAY: Rain and storms. Chance for severe weather. Highs in the lower 70s, lows in the higher 60s.
FRIDAY: Drying out. Partly sunny. Highs in the higher 70s, lows in the mid-60s.
SATURDAY: Clouds and sun. Highs in the higher 70s, lows in the mid-60s. Late p.m. rain chances.
SUNDAY: Cloudy with peeks of sunshine. Highs in the higher 70s, lows in the lower 60s. Early a.m. rain possible.
NEXT WEEK: Drier and seasonable start, with a cool down to come.
