STORM WATCH: Tracking strong nor'easter this weekend for Brooklyn

Here’s what you need to know:
A COASTAL FLOOD WATCH is in effect 8 a.m. Sunday through 6 p.m. Monday. 1-2ft of inundation above ground level possible in the most vulnerable communities. Widespread moderate to major coastal flooding is possible at high tide Sunday through Monday.
A HIGH WIND WATCH is in effect Sunday afternoon into the late night. Gusts up to 60 mph will bring the threat for power outages and downed trees.
  • A nor'easter will move into our area Sunday into Monday. Rounds of rain will bring 1-2 inches + of rainfall with locally higher amounts. The worst of the storm will be at the coast. Wind gusts of 30-50mph will be at the coast. Large breaking waves between 8-12 feet will bring beach erosion to our ocean facing beaches. Minor to moderate coastal flooding at high tide is expected Sunday morning through Monday evening.
  • High tides times for the Bronx (Throgs Neck) on Sunday are around 4 a.m. and 4 p.m., and around 5:20 a.m. and 5:40 p.m. Monday. For Brooklyn (Coney Island) high tide times will be around 12:40 a.m. and 12:20 p.m. on Sunday and 1:20 a.m. and 1:40 p.m. on Monday. Stay tuned for updates!
  • TRACKING THE TROPICS: There are two areas of interest in the Atlantic and Gulf. Tropical Storm Jerry will move Northeast and become a hurricane this weekend near Bermuda. Heavy rain will impact portions of the Leeward islands, US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico which could result in flash flooding.
