The family of a teenager stabbed by a classmate in a West Farms school says newly released video shows the suspect is to blame for the deadly incident.
Abel Cedeno, 18, has been arrested and charged in the stabbing last September at the Urban Assembly School For Wildlife Conservation that killed Matthew McCree and injured Ariane Laboy.
Sandy Rubenstein, who's representing McCree's family, released video Friday that he says shows what happened before, during and after the stabbing. Although it appears to be the
same video released by Cedeno's attorney on Monday, Rubenstein offers a different perspective. He says Cedeno is the aggressor, charging at McCree and having to be restrained by classmates.
Rubenstein says the defense's allegation that Cedeno was being attacked by other students in the classroom is untrue. The defense says Cedeno was the victim of bullying in the school.
The video has been turned over to the district attorney's office. Both sides say it will be used as evidence during the trial.
The stabbing marked the first slaying in a New York City public school in two decades.
