Fight for the 15th District: South Bronx native Samelys Lopez

The "Fight for the 15th" doesn't have 15 candidates, but the figure is getting close to it. And for every politician, there is an activist just as passionate -- like Mount Eden native Samelys Lopez.
A self-described "daughter of the South Bronx," Lopez says activists are needed in every level of government. She says voters want housing, child care and a redistribution of political, economic and social power.
Lopez talks to News 12's Kurt Semder in this Power and Politics report, where she speaks about her efforts to win the district, what type of person should take on the role and other important issues to voters.
Lopez is part of a 12-candidate field seeking the Democratic nomination this June for the congressional seat. The winner of that primary will likely face the lone Republican, Patrick Delices, in November.
