The Harlem community on Saturday celebrated the life of popular New York City DJ Jinx Paul by renaming a street in his honor.
The corner of Amsterdam Avenue and W 136th Street will now be known as DJ Jinx Paul Way. Paul, who died seven years ago, was a voice on Mega 97.9 FM for years.
“It is people like Jinx Paul that prove that is just a myth, that we are larger than the expectations that people have for us,” Councilmember Carmen De La Rosa said. “That's why we are co-naming this street, because when we remember our loved ones, they never really die.”
After Paul’s death, local lawmakers passed the DJ Jinx Paul Hit-and-Run Alert System that alerts city residents of hit and run crashes that cause fatalities or serious injuries.
