Students address elected officials at Youth Speaks program
Students from across the Bronx made their voices heard Wednesday, addressing their elected officials at the 11th annual Youth Speaks program with New York City Schools Chancellor Carmen Farina.
More than 500 students from elementary, middle and high schools throughout the 12th District filled the auditorium of M.S. 113 for the program.
Youth Speaks allows students to bring up issues with which they are confronted on a daily basis to community leaders. Present at Wednesday's program, in addition to Farina, were police officers from the NYPD's 47th Precinct and City Councilman Andy King.
This year's theme was equality.
