Study: The Bronx is home to 7 of the hottest bus stops across the city

It was found that only 1 in 5 bus stops had bus shelters and only 1 in 3 stops are near the shade of trees.

New York City summers are not easy, especially waiting for the bus in sweltering heat. According to a study conducted by Transporter Alternative, The Bronx is home to seven of the hottest bus stops across the city.
In that study, a few suggestions were made to help New Yorkers cope with the city's summertime heat. Those suggestions Include planting temperature cooling trees, building shelters, and install dedicated bus lanes that improve speed a reduce wait times.
It was found that only 1 in 5 bus stops had bus shelters and only 1 in 3 stops are near the shade of trees.
Another study conducted by Transporter Alternative and NASA found Bronx bus stops were 11 degrees hotter than the citywide average and 20 degrees hotter than the Coolest bus stops.
