Sub teacher accused of removing hijab from student
A substitute teacher in the Bronx is accused of ripping off a student's hijab inside of a classroom.
The incident happened at P.S. 76 last week.
According to police, the teacher, Oghenetega Edah, told the student to remove the religious covering but she refused.
Police say the teacher forcibly removed the hijab, scratching the student’s eye in the process.
The Department of Education released a statement saying he had been terminated.
Police did not say if Edah is facing charges.
