The Summer Rising program is approaching its conclusion this year after helping students have fun while reaching their academic goals.
New York City Schools Chancellor David Banks joined in on some of the fun at C.S. 55 in Morrisania on Wednesday.
C.S. 55 is one of the many schools taking part in the program that provides a mixture of academic support, social-emotional learning, and activities that keep students engaged.
“When I go around and I visit different schools, kids are engaged academically. They’re learning, they’re reading, they’re doing math… but they’re also having a lot of fun,” said Banks. “We were kids once as well, and we like to have fun and in summertime especially. I'm just so excited to see how much the kids are just advancing and growing."
Students still have time to enjoy the Summer Rising program. For students through grade 5, the program ends on Aug. 18. For students in grades 6-8, the program ends Aug. 11.
