With summer soon approaching, teens who usually volunteer at summer camps and programs may have to look elsewhere due to social distancing amid the coronavirus pandemic.
There are plenty of opportunities to plug in to, though, says Sara Nathan, of Amigos de Las Americas.
Teens can consider making masks or tutoring students who may be missing school.
Or teens can look to virtual programs or camps. “We’re seeing a real innovation as organizations take their programs online,” says Nathan.
There are also plenty of volunteer programs; Nathan suggests the following:
According to Nathan, Amigos has a new virtual program that “allows students to connect with students from other countries and learn about each other’s cultures.”
