Kingsbridge residents are calling for help after a fire tore through their building.
The ceilings outside of Quijada Muniz' apartment are still covered in soot, and the smell is still bothering her.
"I woke up with a big headache from the smell of smoke," said Muniz.
She tells News 12 one of her sons had to help her go down the fire escape that night. She has trouble walking and was injured trying to escape.
"There was a lot of force. I hurt my hips, legs, hands, and my neck," she said.
Residents received ventilators from their insurance company to help, but they are asking their management company for a more permanent solution.
Tenants, like Chris on the fifth floor, say they have holes in the ceiling and debris covering the floor. He says he feels it’s unsafe for his family.
"There's a piece of plaster on her bed, it's right here," said Chris.
He's been paying out of pocket for a hotel since Friday night, and says management is not helping.
"Their communication skills getting back to the people that need them haven't really been there, we've been left stranded," said Chris.
News 12 crews saw the FDNY in the building on Monday.
