Bronx tenants are calling for a rent rollback on rent-stabilized housing units in the borough.
The Don't Raise Our Rent rally kicked off at 5:30 p.m. and aimed to inform Bronx residents about upcoming hikes to the rent prices of rent-stabilized units. The rally also hopes to inspire tenants to testify in an upcoming hearing.
"The vast majority of our members are struggling to get by themselves," said Kelly Farrell, policy analyst for the Rent Stabilization Association. "They rely on the Rent Guidelines Board to keep their buildings going."
The final vote by the board will be made on June 17.
