The Living Room in Throgs Neck is a co-working space that operates like an office. There is free Wi-Fi, printing, coffee, and board games. There are also TV screens and projectors for meetings.
The space is geared toward people who work from home but want a space outside the home to work.
“We have employees who truly work from home who never see a coworker on a daily basis, so they're able to have that interaction,” said Desiree Sanchez, the Chief Marketing Officer at The Living Room.
News 12 spoke with small business owner Robert Alleyne, who said his home office can be distracting. So, he takes important meetings and works on big projects at The Living Room.
“Sometimes there's certain things you don't want to do in a home office or just don't have the space, and it's good to have another location that doesn't cost a ton of money to be able to do that,” Alleyne said.
The Living Room is also available to rent out for large meetings and even parties.
The space is open 7 days a week. Mondays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on weekends by appointment. The cost for a daily pass is $25. To rent out the space for a meeting, it’s $250 per hour. For weekend parties and larger events, it’s $2,000 for six hours. The space can hold up to 100 people.
