Neighbors in Throgs Neck who live near East Tremont Avenue are fed up with looking at trash overflowing from a dumpster.
The dumpster sits behind a medical building and is on private property. Neighbors say the dumpster is overflowing on a weekly basis. Some say they have spotted medical waste in the dumpster. The owner of the building says that hazardous material is never discarded in the dumpster.
The owner says ever since the private carting company Sanitation Salvage temporarily lost its license in August he has been trying to hire another company. He says it's been difficult because technically he was still a client of Sanitation Salvage.
According to Sanitation Salvage's website, the company is back in business. Neighbors are hoping that means the overflowing garbage will be cleared as soon as possible.
The owner says the city Sanitation Department has been picking up the trash once a week. He says normally the private carting company comes three times a week. He says the trash is expected to be picked up Sunday.
