An American flag hanging from the porch of a home in Torrington was set on fire during the early morning hours Friday.

Police say a man dressed in all black approached the home near Church Street around 2:11 a.m. He then set the flag on fire, leaving scorch marks on the home's porch.

The home was not damaged.

The suspect fled the scene. Police don't not believe the homeowners were targeted.

Anyone with information or video surveillance of the incident is asked to call police.
