Well, counties in northwest Jersey, they're expected to get the worst of this storm. Some places up to nine inches of snow are predicted. And that's in Mars County and that is where we find news. 12 New Jersey's Joy, Reiki Joey. Can you tell us what is it looking like out there? We're not at those nine inches of snow just yet, but it is definitely accumulating here this evening. I'd say looking down, we're probably at about maybe 2.5, possibly three inches, but it is really coming down. We move further south in Morris County. We're now in Morristown and I've been watching some people who work here in the area at some retail shops, wiping that snow off of their cars. Probably not what they are expecting to come out to. Um, earlier this evening when we were traveling southbound towards the area, we saw some pretty treacherous driving conditions. Take a look at some of that video that we shot earlier from thunder bolt and you'll see what we saw on route 10 East. You can see that there's a thick coating of snow on the highway about an inch or two at that point, a large white van in front of us swerving side to side as the snow fell trying to take the exit for 287. The driver fortunately was able to make it, but that was scary to watch happening right in front of us. And we've seen a lot of that tonight earlier when we were at a gas station, we watched as a small sedan tried to make it off of route 10 west into the gas station a little bit of an uphill climb. The driver inching up, getting stuck, rolling back. We saw the wheels spinning out. Ultimately, the driver not able to make it in to get gas. We've watched snow plows do their best to try and keep these roadways clear. We want to remind people give them their space really. We can't stress it out enough. Don't drive if you don't have to, it's just going to get more dangerous as the night continues, as the snow continues to fall and as it gets even colder.

Well, counties in Northwest Jersey expected to get the worst of this storm up to nine inches of snow predicted for Morris County. And that is where we find news 12. New Jersey's Josie, Reiki, Josie, what does it look like out there? And you could see them here behind me, those snow plows that are definitely needed here on highway 10. As the snow really starts to accumulate here in Morris County over the past several hours, it is really starting to pick up making for some very dangerous conditions here on the roadways. People really shouldn't be out on the road unless they really have to. You know, we've been here in the area, keeping an eye on the storm and just tracking what the conditions are for some, in some residential areas. I did see some people getting stuck on the roadways. There's probably about an inch, maybe two inches maximum on the local streets, but they haven't been cleared. First responders. Our DPW and dot Crews really focusing on the main highways at this point for some folks that have to be out on the roadways doing some of the emergency things that they need to take care of tonight. But earlier this evening, Governor Murphy and some of our state officials held a press conference and they talk to people about some of the things that they should look out for and some of the things that they can do to make sure that not only they are safe, but our first responders are safe as um this storm progresses here throughout the night. If first responders are on the shoulder, move over one, if possible, if it's not possible, make sure you slow down in a manner enough that they can safely perform their duties. Again. This doesn't only apply to the first responders but also those maintenance workers tow companies that are trying to make the roads safe. Now. Right now, the roads are pretty good. I don't think there's any issues, but the thing is, is the temperature is dropping. So people need to be cautious because now you're going to start to see some freezing. So, and earlier this evening, I saw a car accident as a car swerved off the road onto the shoulder. Hopefully, we won't be seeing much more of that tonight as people hear the warning to not go out on these roadways unless they have to. Yeah, it's definitely starting to accumulate the snow really picking up over the past hour or so. The good news is I'm standing just beside route 10 and I just saw about 1015 snow plows drive by and clean up that accumulation here on the highway and it is needed because these roadways are really starting to become pretty dangerous. I'm looking down at about two inches of snow right now and here you have it. It is the first snowball of the season that nice snow that's easy to pack together for some snowball fights that people might have tomorrow morning. But in some of the neighborhoods, it's not the kind of weather you want to be out in tonight. You know, I noticed that a lot of cars were having some challenges driving in some of the residential areas, some of those local roadways they stopped because they just couldn't make it. And really, right now, there isn't really more than I'd say about an inch or two on some of those local roads. But on these hilly roadways in Morris County, it's a challenge. Earlier today, I saw an accident, a car swerved onto the sh shoulder on Parkway southbound. And hopefully there won't be much more of that because people hear the warning and they won't go out if they don't have to, if first responders are on the shoulder, move over one lane, if possible, if it's not possible, make sure you slow down in a manner enough that they can safely perform their duties. I feel like I hear a snow plow here behind. You might see it in just a few seconds, but they're really doing their best trying to keep the roadways clear. We are now going to go to Morris Plains just off of highway 10. And that's where we find our joy. Reiki now. Joy. It looks like the snow was really sticking out there and, and you do look like you're freezing. How is it? Mm. Yeah, the snow is definitely starting to come down, but I am not complaining. This is the first snow of the season and it just looks so beautiful, seeing the snow coat the trees all around me. But here behind me, as you mentioned is highway 10 and I can really see the snow starting to cumulate on the highway. Drivers definitely going a lot slower than they were about an hour ago. But I want you to take a look at what accumulated in the last hour since I've checked in with you. Take a look down here. We're in a parking lot just off of route 10. And you could see that within just an hour, a lot of snow has come down and very, very quickly. I don't know, I'd say there's about half an inch at this point. It is really starting to come down and some of the more residential areas. You can see that the snow is building on the side blocks and roadways. It's sticking people mostly indoors. I caught up with one woman who had just gotten back from the grocery store. I also saw some snow trucks spreading, spreading salt. According to the dot There's going to be a 1800 pieces of equipment to clear the snow on the parkway and turnpike. They say they have over 700 pieces of equipment. There's nothing like a good snowstorm. And, uh, well, the prediction is an inch every hour. So we're hoping that comes true. Uh, people stay home. We just came from Costco, so we got our goods and we're ready to go for tonight and to watch the continued snowfall. And she told me a little bit after that, some of the things that she stocked up on where items for tonight's dinner as well as tomorrow morning for breakfast. Really a good idea because they're probably going to have a pretty challenging time. Getting out here tomorrow morning. The snow really starting to come down. We'll check in with you a little bit later on this evening, but for now we're reporting live in worse plains to the news of New Jersey.

Josie. What does it look like out there? Wow, it's snowing. Yeah, Tara, the snow is definitely starting to fall here in Morris County. Not that much accumulation, but this is the beginning of what we're going to start to see this evening. Uh, me and my photographer just pulled off in whippy because we wanted to get a look at the texture. We're at a dead end here in a residential area. And if you could take a look down here, you can see that's not really accumulating much, but it is the nice crunchy stuff that will make for some good snowball fights if you're into that sort of thing. I want to show you guys now what it looked like earlier today when we were driving out here in thunderbolt, this weather is already starting to cause some headaches on the roadways for drivers, check it out. This is the parkway southbound around exit 140 that's in Union Township, traffic not moving at all. It's just before the toll plaza from the northbound side, I was able to see several police cars, a fire truck and an ambulance. It looked like a car had skid off the right side of the road and onto the side shoulder, some sort of accident going on there. The roadways definitely starting to get slick. That backup I would say was lasting at least five miles. Meantime, I did see some snow plows out here spreading the. So as this winter makes accumulates on the roadways, we heard from Governor Murphy earlier this afternoon on preparations. So take a listen to what he had to say. Don't go out unless you need to go out, stay off the roads. One of the utilities with whom I was in touch earlier to today said their biggest concern is not necessarily precipitation of snow, rain or heavy winds, but it is their ability to move their equipment around with other folks out on the road and a commercial vehicle travel restriction is now in place by the dot That went into effect at two o'clock. That includes route 78 95 82 8287 as well as 440. We're going to check in now with our ally Reed, who is down the shore. She's in man is gone. All I bet it looks a lot different down there.
