Tens of thousands of runners who will be participating in Sunday's New York City Marathon are expected to be out in the streets throughout the five boroughs.

The event which consists of a 26.2-mile route will also impact some roads throughout the city.

The race is back to its full capacity this year and around 50,000 runners are expected to come through the city streets.

The marathon will kick off in Staten Island as early as 8 a.m.

Runners will make their way through Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and the Bronx before runners cross the finish line in Central Park.

Multiple streets and bridges around the city will be closed to accommodate the race.

In Brooklyn, Flatbush Avenue, Lafayette Avenue, Bedford Avenue, Green Point Avenue and Fourth Avenue will be impacted.

In the Bronx, runners will cross the Willis Avenue Bridge and make their way around Morris Avenue, Rider Avenue and the 20th-mile mark at the Grand Concourse before they go back down into Manhattan.

The last wave of runners will kick off at 11:30 a.m.

The average finish time is four hours and 39 minutes.
