New Jersey’s state Capitol remains on
high alert even though supporters of President Donald Trump who were expected
to hold an armed demonstration Sunday had not arrived by noon.
As of 12 p.m., Trenton was quiet with
just one protester arriving and then later leaving.
The protest had been expected to
begin at noon in the Garden State, with reports of similar expected
demonstrations across the country.
Mail delivery is being suspended through
Jan. 25 around the Statehouse due to security concerns, potentially concerning
what could be hidden in a mailbox.
Salt trucks have shut down West State
Street, which is common ahead of a large demonstration.
Those in the area Sunday were mainly
media and law enforcement officers.
New Jersey’s National Guard is on
standby in case a protest does arise.
