An off-duty NYPD officer was carjacked at gunpoint Saturday night in Soundview, sources say.

It happened outside 1023 Ward Ave. just off Bruckner Boulevard. Sources say the carjacker struck the off-duty officer’s car with a vehicle – then carjacked the officer at gunpoint. The officer was unharmed. The carjacker left behind a severely damaged Ford with deployed airbags and a side mirror hanging off.

Sources say the carjacker drove onto the highway and later crashed in New Rochelle around 1 a.m. The suspect fled the scene before New Rochelle police arrived.

Police are searching for a man in his late 20s with dreadlocks, a black sweater and a slim building. No arrest has been made.
