Residents are frustrated as rats have taken over a vacant and garbage-filled lot on West 32nd Street.
Pictures show that even the neighborhood cats have given up the fight and are sharing food sources with the rodents.
People who live and work in the neighborhood have filed numerous complaints about the infestation to 311, which have been referred to the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene said in a statement to News 12, "The NYC Health Department received this complaint and the location has been scheduled for inspection. Inspection results will be available on the rat information portal within 72 hours of inspection. For more information on rat complaints and inspections, visit the Environment and Health Data Portal."
