A software engineer has developed a Twitter account that calls out and tracks bad drivers in New York City.
Brian Howald started
@HowsmydrivingNY to bring attention to city drivers who break parking rules, he says.
The account is quickly rising in popularity because users are reporting bad drivers by tweeting a picture of the offender's license plate at the account.
In return, Howald sends the user who submitted the complaint a full report of current traffic violations the vehicle may have.
He says he is taking matters into his own hands to see safer streets in the city.
"I think the city and the state should look into ways of notifying people's insurance companies and finally taking people’s cars or licenses," he says. "Dangerous driving has consequences and certainly if we know about who's doing this, perhaps we can do something to stop it before it becomes deadly."
The account has nearly 900 followers and is growing every day, Howald says.
