Union Avenue man sentenced for fatal shooting, slashing 2 correction officers

They say 24-year-old Anthony Taveras-Morales shot Jaguar Housey days after fighting the 29-year-old.

The Bronx District Attorney's Office says that a Union Avenue man was sentenced to 20 years in prison for fatally shooting man and an additional two years for slashing two correction officers while awaiting trial in Rikers Island.

They say 24-year-old Anthony Taveras-Morales shot Jaguar Housey days after fighting the 29-year-old.

While awaiting trial at Rikers Island, Taveras-Morales assaulted two correction officers with a sharp object. The officers were attempting to put out a fire in his cell that Taveras-Morales started.
