For many, the holiday season means big sales and bargains that are up for grabs.
This holiday season could see more shipments now that the COVID-19 pandemic is slowing down and more people are eager to get their holiday needs in full swing again.
The United Parcel Service is now adding to its workforce to meet the increasing demand.
The global shipping and receiving giant is now looking to bring on 1,500 new workers to handle the increase in volume during the holiday season.
With a fully automated system to increase efficiency on the shipping floor and a hiring process that has been streamlined, UPS says drivers can start as high as $20 an hour with full benefits.
Veteran Driver Bruce Snyder who has been with UPS for 35 years, despite the job’s physical challenges, he says he is a mainstay.
Bruce Snyder says he could have retired 10 years ago but says it’s the smiles on customers’ faces when he delivers their packages that keep him at UPS.
“I have a family out there my family is my wife and my kids and I also have a family on my route,” said Snyder.
During this busy season, over 60,000 pieces of mail and packages will be moved out of the facility daily and into the hands of customers.
