Veterans of the Vietnam War were honored in Holmdel Saturday to mark New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Remembrance Day.
The ceremony was held at the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
More than 200,000 veterans from the Garden State served in Vietnam from 1959 to 1975.
This was the first time in three years the ceremony took place onsite because of the pandemic.
"Given that the lack of recognition that we received when we got home, it's important that what those veterans did during that period is recognized," said Gordon Pingicer, of the Vietnam Veterans' Memorial Foundation Board of Trustees.
The state Legislature made New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Remembrance Day official back in 1991.
