Vigil held for woman fatally shot while pushing stroller on Upper East Side

New Yorkers are still reeling from the loss of a mother who was shot in the head and killed while out with her baby on the Upper East Side Wednesday night.
A candlelight vigil was held to commemorate 20-year-old Aszia Johnson’s life. Her mother said that the city failed her daughter, and that her death was the result of domestic violence.
Her family tells News 12 that Aszia leaves behind two young babies, and that she aspired to be a pediatric nurse.
City officials, including Mayor Eric Adams, attended the vigil, consoling the victim’s mother as she spoke to the crowd.
Police say no arrests have been made at this time, and the investigation is ongoing.
