The first woman ever has been sworn in to serve as police chief for the Village of Mamaroneck.
The village board has made Lt. Sandra DiRuzza provisional police chief.
News 12 spoke with her back in October about what she plans to do once she takes office.  “I'd like to do more community engagement, more community night out events ... so the residents can see our officers in a different setting.”
DiRuzza is now the fourth female police chief in Westchester County's history. She hopes to inspire other females in law enforcement to reach for the stars.
