New York City officially entered phase four of reopening Monday with low-risk outdoor, arts and entertainment, professional sports with no spectators and media production.
Mayor Bill de Blasio says the city has been on the right path and worked hard to lower COVID-19 numbers.
Despite the success, the mayor spoke out against the recent overcrowding and large groups reported in Astoria, Queens. The mayor says the city has zero tolerance for those who do not social distance.
The mayor also addressed the extreme heat the city has been experiencing. The mayor says 160 cooling centers are open with social distancing. There are also 230 cooling and misting locations in the most heat-burdened communities.
The mayor says 300 hydrants are open with spray caps, and 650 spray showers in city parks are now open.
In addition to those cooling centers, the city has also added 16 Cool Streets with expanded cooling options
