A groundbreaking ceremony was held at Steelpointe Harbor in Bridgeport on Tuesday for new waterfront housing.
Flaherty & Collins Properties, in partnership with RCI Group, broke ground with state and city officials on the 420-unit development, called The August. It will span 6.5 acres across the Bridgeport Harbor Marina.
“We desperately need this type of housing. We desperately need workforce housing,” said Gov. Ned Lamont.
The housing will include numerous amenities, including a fitness center, a community pool and deck, a private outdoor pet park and spa, a pickleball court and more.
This is the first residential phase of the 52-acre Steelpointe Harbor master plan.
