Voters across the Hudson Valley are heading to the polls today, but turnout is not expected to be very heavy.
Here are some of the important local races that News 12 is tracking.
• Westchester County Executive George Latimer is seeking a second term in office. He's facing off against Republican Christine Sculti.
• Ed Day is seeking a third term against L'Tanya Watkins for Rockland County Executive.
• Robert Langley and Kevin McConville are vying to lead the Putnam Sheriff's Office.
• And the state's third-largest city, Yonkers, will have a new council president. Lakisha Collins-Bellamy and Ron Matten are vying for the position.
• There are dozens of other legislative and local council seats up for grabs, as well as mayoral and supervisor races to be decided.
• There are also several propositions on the back of the ballot.
In Rockland County, both candidates running for county executive have already cast their ballot.
County Executive Ed Day voted in Haverstraw and, as he did, plenty of his constituents took the time to shake his hand at the polls. Day is running for his third term. He is a retired police commander and former legislator.  He says his proudest achievement these past eight years in office has been digging Rockland out of $138 million hole and into a $90 million surplus.  "I feel very, very good just coming in here today, people come up to me shaking my hand, telling me I'm doing a good job. So I feel very confident right now," says Day.
Democrat L'Tanya Watkins, a defense attorney, is challenging Ed Day.  She says if elected the issues she's setting her sights on first include homelessness and mental health. "I learned a lot about Rockland County even though I'm a lifelong resident prior to this venture so I do feel I reached out enough," says Watkins.
