A Brooklyn street has been renamed Saturday after a Dominican woman and grassroots leader who fought for the Hispanic community in New York City.
Postacia Rodriguez worked with NYCHA and several school boards throughout the city to get residents the resources they need to thrive.
Her name will now reside at Hooper Street and S. 3rd Street. The Dominican flag flew in the air during the ceremony as people remembered Rodriguez's legacy.
Rodriguez and her family settled in south Williamsburg when they moved from the Dominican Republic. She passed away in 2010.
