The Claremont woman who was hit in the head by a falling brick Tuesday is now listed in critical condition at the hospital, officials say.
The woman, a 66-year-old grandmother, was standing with her daughter on a Morris Avenue sidewalk outside her home of 17 years when a brick fell at least five stories onto her skull, according to police. Witnesses say she collapsed to the ground and was bleeding profusely.
Emergency workers transported the victim to Lincoln Hospital.
Shakiba Dick, the victim's daughter, says her mom was given seven staples in the head.
The injured woman is already diagnosed with cancer and diabetes, Dick says.
"She's not really doing good," Dick says. "Just praying that my mom is in good health and she's gonna come home."
Police say after reviewing surveillance video it appears the brick fell from the building and they do not suspect it was thrown.
The Department of Buildings is also investigating the incident.
