A woman says her personal belongings, including an expensive purse, were stolen from her workplace in Throgs Neck.
The victim, who chose not to identify herself for safety reasons, says she briefly stepped out of her office to go to Rite Aid. When she returned, she says her Gucci purse, coach wallet and $200 were gone from behind her reception desk.
Police confirm that the incident happened on Friday. Police are now searching for the suspect, but they say no arrests have been made.
Surveillance footage from a medical building on East Tremont Avenue shows a person who the victim believes to be the suspect. She believes the suspect is a man who was wearing a neon yellow high visibility vest while wandering around an East Tremont Avenue building, where she works as a medical assistant.
She says she left the office door unlocked because a technician and patient were still inside.
The victim says she doesn't recognize the man and didn't notice him that day.
"I was devastated--I was looking for what to do," she says. "I was like, how could this happen?"
The victim says she provided police with the surveillance video, which she was able to obtain from her workplace. She says she was told detectives are now on the case.
